My Cakes

My first wedding cake ever...
Mom & Mike's Cake
(and she did have to help me finish it off).

Bri & Heath's...just two weeks later.
Not a fan of the greenery, but Mom insisted.

Sean & Nicole's Cake...I had sugared some irises to adorn this one,
but they had wilted by the time I needed to put them on the cake.
Bummer! So we had to get this topper as an emergency finishing piece.

Jack's 1st Birthday...his first word was turtle, plus Daddy
had a turtle cake for his first bday so it just seemed fitting.

Jack's 2nd bday...he was in love with Diego. And somehow Diego's patch ended up on his sleeve instead of his vest.
I don't know...so don't even ask.

Dusty's Bronco Cake...I think this was his 32nd bday.

Halle's Ladybug cake for her 1st bday. I wanted a ladybug, but not black & red as I thought that might be disastrous with the whole letting them stuff their face bit. Halle had a pair of jammies with pink & purple ladybugs all over them, which led me to an alternative coloring idea. This is my most favorite cake I've ever done. And thanks for the help on the gumdrop spots Mom!

My little neighbor boy wanted a "mean bumblebee" cake, so this is what I came up with. Really he wanted Bumble Bee the Transformer, which I think would have been easier, but his Mom talked him out of it. Thanks to Brad & Maren for the idea of using colorflo on the wings, and for helping to make them! Caden loved the cake and I guess he and his brother and sisters all wanted to sit next to it
at the party.

And lastly, Jack's Fire Duck cake for his 3rd bday. He has a rubber duck that looks just like this. It is by far his favorite duck and he sleeps with it every night.

So, definitely not perfect, but I enjoy decorating cakes.
I give myself a B on most of them, except Diego, B-.
I hope to make many more over the years to come as my Mom
always made each of our birthdays so special with a
perfectly decorated cake. And hers were all As.

Jack's Duck Bathroom

Knowing how much Jack would love it, we just had to makeover his bathroom for his birthday. We worked on it all day & night the day before so we could surprise him. Even though he was sick as a dog on his birthday, he still loved it! Here are some shots.

A Night in Salt Lake

We took Dusty's Aunt ViAnn and Mom (deemed Great Aunt ViAnn & Mee-maw JoJo by Jack) down to Salt Lake this past Thursday to see My Fair Lady at the Pioneer Theater. These two Grandma Gerdies don't much care for night driving, so we all went to dinner together at Macaroni Grill, and then we dropped off the ladies for their show and perused Temple Square. We finished off the evening watching "Peta Pan" in the car with the kids, while Dusty and I tried to hide our Ben & Jerry's from view. Finally the girls emerged from the play and we made the trek home. It was a late night, but I think we all had fun.

This was my first attempt at using the timer on our camera.
Sorry Hal! You didn't quite make the cut!

She's just taken off these past two weeks!

And here's a clip of miss Hal, enjoying her vittles at Macaroni Grill.

Pre-School Pride...and that Darn Blanky!

Here's Jack sporting the t-shirt he made on his first day of our neighborhood preschool. He was pretty proud. It took all that was in me to let him squeeze the dye onto the shirt himself. But we all lived, and our stained hands eventually washed clean. Wow, the drama of a clean-freak mom! You'll also notice Jack's perma-tote here filled with his blanky and most favorite ducks. Rubber ducks have become all the rage around our house, and their portable home has ranged from this lovely plastic tote, to a cardboard box, to a pencil box, and now, to my mouse house sown by my Mom when I was kid. Anyway, Jack thinks pre-school is a blast!
