Halle Boo Bear

Here's a more fun picture of Halle from the other day. She's not a big fan of showers, but does enjoy doing this...

A Big Scare from Precious Little Halle

Our little Halle gave us quite the scare yesterday. She was pretty sick and up all night Saturday with a cough and ear ache & fever. Sunday her fever had come down and she seemed to be doing a little better, so I dropped her off at my Mom's while we went to church.

While we were there, Halle decided to scare Grami Sue. They were watching Tinker Bell together and Halle was getting hotter, despite her recent dose of tylenol. My Mom set her on the couch for a minute and all of the sudden heard a thud. Halle had gone into a seizure and fell on the floor. My Mom & Mike got in the car quickly to take her to the nearest doctor, but she went white and her little lips turned blue. My Mom had the forsight to push her tongue down and she did start to breathe again, but stayed pretty lifeless. They called 911 and they were there within minutes to take care of little Hal.

Dusty and I were there by then and tearfully drove her limp little body to the ER. She would answer us with a "ya" when we asked if she was okay, but she didn't move anything and felt like her muscles had all turned to jelly. After we got there Dusty gave her a blessing while we waited for a doctor. She slowly started moving again and we knew she'd be okay. She was given an antibiotic shot for a nasty ear infection and after some chest x-rays and drawing some blood she was diagnosed with RSV too. (The seizure was due to the quick change in temperature and not something to worry too much about in the future, I guess.)

Not a fun day, but we're so thankful she's okay and feeling better today. We sure love our little Halle and are thankful for all the prayers she received yesterday and for our wonderful family who is always so full of love and willing to help.

Tinker Bell Cake for Nadia

My niece, Nadia, turned 6 this week and we had a little family birthday party for her tonight. Here are some photos of the cake. I must say it was the easiest one I've ever made. I get really nervous when doing wedding cakes or character cakes - it is so hard for me to make faces look good! Anway, I ditched my anxiety and decided to go with a Tinker Bell doll. Can't get easier than that. The rest was cake!

Brotherly Love

Jack laid around sick all day today; he's got a deep chest cough and fever. I'd been trying to keep Halle away from him as much as possible, but finally gave up. This afternoon while they were watching a movie he held out his arms and said, "Come 'ere, Sweetie." She walked down the couch and fell into his arms for a big bear hug.

A New Bedroom

So we've had a king-size bed for awhile now, with no matching furniture or appropriately sized bedspread. In November I decided to sell my hard earned, queen-sized, Rio Grande bedroom furniture from Pier 1. The proceeds nearly paid for a brand new king-size bedroom set from Ikea. We were also lucky enough to receive this awesome sketch of the Logan Temple from my Mom/Mike & Brad/Maren for Christmas, the curtains & rod from my Dad & Dayle (who gave us a Target giftcard-wahoo!), and the black bench to complete the set from Dusty & his parents.

And of course I need to thank my wonderful husband for giving up his Saturday (and let's be honest-most of his Sunday too) to repaint the bedroom. It looks awesome and I've been enjoying it so much. The best part is the comforter. It's a bit warm, but ever since I saw Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music searching for spiders in her bed by flipping back her all-in-one-comforter (with no top sheet)...I have desperately wanted one. And now that I'm nearly 30, I finally got one. I love it because it's easy to make the bed, you don't lose half your sheet to your sweetie in the middle of the night, and if you want a new look, you just change out the duvet. I also love Ikea, which provides such luxury for a low price.

Anyway, enjoy the pics.

Here's me being Julie Andrews...

Sunbeams

Okay so here's my sunbeam picture - kinda blurry,
but it was scanned in. I was 3 1/2.

And here's Jack as a Sunbeam - almost the same age.
I think we have the same eyes & nose
although it's hard to tell from my picture.

Halle's First Hair Cut

We took Halle up to Aunt Rie's today to get her first haircut. (Daddy finally said yes!) It was just a trim, but she loved the sucker and I love the new cut. Don't worry Dust, that inch we took off will be back in two months!

Valkyrie

Dusty and I went and saw Valkyrie last weekend and I still can't get it out of my mind. It was good - a sad ending, but I really enjoyed it. It's based on the true story of a group of German officers who want to show the world that not all of Germany supports or thinks like Hitler. They architect and carry out the final assassination attempt on him prior to Normandy. It makes you want to buff up on your history, which was the most interesting subject in school to me. Anyway, good movie. Go see it.

Jack's First Day of Primary

Our little Jack has graduated from Nursery to Primary and can now go in with the big kids at Church. I tried to just put him in his chair and run today, but he wanted me to stay with him. So I sat in a tiny chair with him on my lap exclaiming the whole first hour how tired he was. I quote, "I just wanna go home to my house and take a snooze." See we Mormons like to make good use of our buildings, so we house three wards in one Church building wherever possible. This means you get to rotate what time you go to Church each year - 9, 11 or 1. 11am is the coveted time, but unfortunately, this year we go at 1pm...smack dap in the middle of naptime. It's so wonderful. Hopefully we'll get the hang of it.

Anyhow, the primary children were learning a new song today called 'The Family is of God'. The chorus says, "God gave us families, to help us become, what he wants us to be!" Jack caught on really quick to the words, and then added his own lyric at the end, shouting "I wanna be Peter Pan!" Lots of giggles followed that one, which is why he kept repeating it, I'm sure.

By the end of the first hour he said, "You can leave now Mommy. Get outta my chair and go to your class." So I left and did just that...I'm glad he at least needed me for a little while. I feel like my little boy is 3 going on 30!

Snow Day!

The first of January can seem so bleak. All the excitement of the holidays is over and there's rarely a fresh snowfall to make it more bearable. So I was way excited when it started snowing last night! I immediately promised Jack a day of sledding and cocoa if he would stay in his bed all night. Mission accomplished! And we had so much fun at Mee-maw & Grandpa's.

These guys felt like a tub of lard!
Or maybe I'm just out of shape?

All Through the House...

Wow, a slide show is much easier than uploading all those photos! Anyway, here are some shots from over the Christmas Holiday. My Dad was in town, most of my brothers and sisters were here, and we had so much fun! I'm sad it's all over, but it's nice to get the house back together again, too. Pictured at the end here is my brother, Brad, my Mom, and I making the traditional McLeod family fried pies. We love 'em! We made about 100 I think. Something my Grandma Mattie used to do with us whenever we'd get together. Good times.
